The CT laboratory, which is designed for research purposes, is equipped with a Siemens SOMATOM X.cite as a prototype interventional computer tomograph. The comparatively large tube diameter paired with additional multimodal data acquisition from 3D cameras and needle tracking system is intended to bridge the gap between diagnostics and therapy and enable research and development of procedures for minimally invasive interventions under CT imaging. The system offers state-of-the-art image quality in terms of soft tissue contrast, the ability to scan larger volumes as well as a needle tracking system and multimodal data acquisition.
