The Experimental Computed Tomography project is supported by the state of Saxony-Anhalt with funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the Saxony-Anhalt WISSENSCHAFT research infrastructure HS/auFE programme.
The proposed experimental CT serves as the core of research into CT-guided minimally invasive therapy methods that are not possible at the current state of science and technology.
The CT is characterised by optimal patient access and dedicated X-ray imaging components customised to the requirements of minimally invasive tumour therapy. With this new type of minimally invasive therapy, a pradigm shift in cancer therapy will be made possible in the future by establishing a curative therapy approach. One of the components for achieving this goal is the experimental CT. This will help the Magdeburg location to achieve scientific excellence and worldwide visibility in the field of medical imaging.
